- A charge for health insurance — see below.
- Other optional charges, such as an Emory Parking Permit
There is more information on our tuition and fees page, as well as our scholarships page. Please refer to the Student Accounts and Billing Office website for more information about the billing process and payment options. OPUS "how to" guides are also available in OPUS.
Health Insurance
All new degree-seeking and international Emory University students are required to have health insurance. Under this requirement, Emory will automatically enroll students in the Emory University Student Health Insurance Plan (EUSHIP) each year. New students who wish to waive out of EUSHIP will need to complete the annual waiver process in OPUS by September 1, 2023.
For more information, visit the Student Health Services website.
Stipends: Form I-9
If you have been awarded a stipend, your letter of admission indicated the amount and the term of your stipend. Stipends are disbursed monthly on the last business day of the month, from September–August. New students who have completed the Form I-9 requirements by August 18, 2023 will receive an additional half-month stipend payment on August 31, 2023.
Please refer to the instructions provided by your program to complete the Form I-9 process.
Stipends: Tax Forms
Domestic Students: You will set up your tax withholdings online through the HR Orientation website. You may make changes to your tax withholdings online at any time. For reference, paper versions of these tax forms can be found in the right sidebar under “Forms.”
The IRS website is an essential first stop for information about taxes. IRS Publication 970, which deals with scholarships and fellowships, will be of special interest to graduate students. Emory cannot provide personal tax advice and recommends seeking professional tax counsel whenever necessary.
International Students: Emory’s Nonresident Tax Office will provide guidance on how to complete tax forms. Contact nonresident.tax@emory.edu for instructions.
Stipend: Electronic Pay Advice
Each month, a few days before your stipend payment is deposited into your bank account, the Payroll Office will notify you by email that your Pay Advice is ready to view online. The email will state: "Your Pay Advice is now ready for review on the PeopleSoft: HR website" and provide instructions on how to log in. Please note: the funds are not deposited on the day you receive the Pay Advice; they are deposited on the last business day of the month.
