LGS Student Spotlight | Faiza Rahman

Islamic Civilizations Studies PhD candidate Faiza Rahman was awarded a prestigious and highly selective Postdoctoral Fellowship at the Dartmouth Society of Fellows. This 3-year appointment beginning in Fall 2024 at the Society of Fellows at Dartmouth College allows generous time, intellectual freedom, and resources for postdoctoral scholars to be ambitious, take scholarly risks, and contribute to doing good in the world. 

This competitive and interdisciplinary fellowship receives many applicants from the sciences, social sciences, and the humanities. 

At Dartmouth, the Department of Religion will host Faiza while she maintains her affiliation with the Program in Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies and the Dartmouth Digital Humanities Network. She will also serve as a Lecturer in the Department of Religion. Moving between her host department and the inter-disciplinary Society of Fellows community, Faiza will develop her PhD dissertation into a book, intensify digital and grassroots collaborations for her project, and begin work on her next project. 

At Emory, Faiza is currently finalizing her dissertation, Islamic Period: Menstruation and Muslims in Pakistan, in the Islamic Civilizations Studies program of the Department of Middle Eastern and South Asian.
