What You Need to Submit Online to LGS
Interim Masters Graduates
A. If you are seeking an interim Masters degree – i.e., if you will remain enrolled in your PhD program – then follow these instructions.
First, collect one item:
- An unofficial Emory transcript. You can obtain this in OPUS.
Second, complete two forms available in the Laney Connect Hub. Log in and click on “Degree Completion” to see links and instructions.
- A Masters Completion Form -- for your program to affirm that you have completed all program degree requirements. Your program will review this form in the Laney Connect system. Your transcript will be uploaded here.
- An Apply to Graduate Form. This is the form that ties all the items together and allows us to review and process your full set of documentation. Your transcript will be uploaded here as well.
Doctoral Graduates or Masters Graduates seeking a Terminal Masters Degree
First, collect these two items:
1. A signed Distribution Agreement and Approval Page -- for your committee to affirm that they approve your thesis or dissertation. (This signature form is a DocuSign Power Form. If you are not sure what that is, read this and find out.)
- When the form has been signed by all, save it as a pdf. You will need a completed approval page before you start the completion form in the Laney Connect Hub.
2. Certificates that show you have completed the Graduate Education Exit Survey Completion certificate
- The link above takes you to the Exit Survey. When you complete the Exit Survey, a certificate is available; save it as a pdf file or screen shot to attach to your Laney Connect form.
3. If you are a Masters graduate, you need an Emory transcript. You can obtain one in OPUS.
Second, complete one or two items available in the Laney Connect Hub. Log in with your Emory credentials and click on “Degree Completion” to see links and instructions.
- A Certificate Completion Form (if applicable) -- for a certificate director to affirm that you have completed all requirements for a certificate (if you are completing one). The certificate director will review this form in the Laney Connect system.
- An Apply to Graduate Form. This is the form that ties all the items together and allows us to review and process your full set of documentation. The signed approval page and the certificates for the Exit Survey will be uploaded here. If you are a Masters graduate, your transcript will be attached here.
The submission process for Biomedical Engineering students is different from other LGS students.
Get Started
To navigate this process, students should follow instructions in the BME Graduate Handbook for all submission and degree completion paperwork.
Required Survey
The Laney Graduate School requires students to complete the Master's or PhD Graduate Education Exit Survey, depending on their degree.
The surveys are confidential and essential for producing aggregate data that helps Emory and the national higher education community understand how graduate students progress through their programs and view their educational experiences.
A required certificate of completion is available at the end.
NOTE: Students in Biomedical Engineering do not need to complete the Survey of Earned Doctorates to Emory.
Electronic Thesis and Dissertation Repository (ETD)
Students in Biomedical Engineering do not need to submit their theses or dissertations to Emory's ETD.
